I was sitting here thinking about my Grandmother the late Mrs. Ora Lee Moore. Boy is that one very hard thing for me to deal with of late. It's been almost a year since her passing and my birthday is in a few days and she passed about a week after my birthday. All I'm left to think about is staying up until late in the night watching her cooking shows (I really don't like to cook; funny but true), but I watched every show with her. She was bedridden and didn't have much strength when she passed so I tried to make her as comfortable as I could. We didn't talk too much and thank God she never really asked me to cook her anything, but I told her as many times as I could how much I loved her. Right now there's a void in my heart that she left behind that really leaves me in this awful place, missing her. I know that she's not suffering anymore and that her passing relieved her of the pain she had in this world. It helps some to think that way but Lord I would love a do over; just that last day. I want the chance to say one more time "I love you," one more hug and kiss from her, and one more time just to hear her try and fuss. It's always those simple things that make me cry.
I remember the things she did for my family when I was a child and I will never forget them; all the love she gave to us, the hugs and the kisses, the bags with fruit, candy, and one precious gift at Christmas for each grandchild, and the food (especially the cakes) she cooked every year. Her favorite holidays were always Thanksgiving and Christmas and we would always get together at her house to celebrate. She didn't have money to give us just her love and that was never turned away. She was amazing and she is so very missed by all of us (my whole family). Nobody in my family can cook like her; she was the cook.
If you have a good Grandmother honor her by telling her how very much you love her and thank her for being there for you. This is your girl Lady PJ much love to you.
