Encouraging words of wisdom

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres...

And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love.

But the greatest of these is love.”

Horse Show in Bay Minette, Al

I spent my Saturday morning worrying about the rain but boy do I love the rainfall.  It just wasn't the right day for rain, well not for my small town.  Every year folks gather together to see relatives they haven't seen in years, to enjoy the horses maybe even ride one or two, and to eat some good food.  Thank God, we didn't get a hard rain because the event carried on and without fighting or gunfire.  I took a lot of pictures so you can see a little bit of what we do down here in the country maybe next time you'll come and join in.  The Nightriders Horse Club sponsored the event and they only charged $3 per person as a food charge; let me just say that it was a beautiful spread with BBQ and baked chicken, pulled pork, BBQ ribs, pork and beans with hamburger meat, green beans, potato salad, mac and cheese, etc.
Well watch the short clip and enjoy.  Much love to you all, Lady PJ.

"Government Shutdown"

Written by Philessa H. Jenkins aka Lady PJ
October 16, 2013
Title:  “Government Shutdown”

America!  I’m in such dismay because our Government keeps arguing like children, as the financial security of our Country is headed on the path of destruction.

Midnight tonight if our Government can’t come to an agreement on the budget our Country will go into default on our bills; this could affect our credit rating, the stock market, and the way we do business with other Countries in the future.  I’m worried that the value of the dollar is going to flounder because our government can’t agree to run this country with the future of America in mind.  I don’t care that you’re a Democrat, or a Republican, or a Moderate, or a Conservative; what I do care about is that you do your job.

Right now our Federal Workers are being furloughed or on furlough; wondering how they’re going to pay their bills.  Some American people are losing jobs, are wondering how they’re going to feed their children, and trying to figure out how to pay their rent.   How much longer and how much more must the People of America pay for the Government divide?

Wait a minute, now the Republican Party wants to impeach the President.  Why are we still listening to former Governor Sarah Palin?  Congress passed the bill for Obama Care, now move on!  Stop standing in the corner with your hands folded, pouting about something that has been done because you can’t go back.  America needs to move forward and progress to the next level; fix the budget!

Remember, President Obama didn’t create the budget deficit; President Bush did that but you didn’t scream “Impeach President Bush.”  When President Clinton left office America was thriving and we were no longer in the red.  President Bush came into office and completely destroyed all of Clinton’s progress and when Bush left office we were in the red.  Stop blaming President Obama for this mess and let’s just solve the problem.  We need to pay our bills, we need a budget, that’s the only way we can stop this train wreck from happening.

I keep thinking why are we paying The House and The Senate a pay check when the rest of the Government is not getting paid?  I don’t understand that at all.  If we took their money from them, “The People who run our Country,” I bet you they’d come up with a budget and it wouldn’t take long either.  Right now the power is in their hands and they feel empowered because of it.  It’s time that someone gives them a reality check.  “We are the people of America born of one nation.”  Let's stop the divide, work together, and fix this major problem before it really hurts our Country.

This is your girl, Lady PJ and information is power, so be informed.  Much love to you all, and pray for a resolution.

P.S.  It has been announced that we should have some sort of agreement by noon today.  I’m really expecting these parties to pull it together and do their job; put the American people first for a turn.

"Acting without compassion"

Written by Ms. Philessa Jenkins aka Lady PJ

Title:  "Acting Without Compassion"

Yesterday, I ran over this big snake.  He was waiting to cross the road and all I saw was "A Snake."  Ladies, you know what I mean!  He was about five feet long; maybe more.  His underbelly was yellow and his skin on top was different shades of brown.  I was driving in my car and before I knew it I hit the gas, full force and ran the thing over.  I was too freaked out to go back and kill him.  It gave me the HeBeGeBees!  I'm still cringing over that thing.

When I got home I thought to myself; "Why did you hit that snake?"  He wasn't bothering you.  The only thing he did wrong was be a snake.

There are so many of us that judge people in the same way as I judged that poor snake.  I went after him for what he could do and what he was, not for what he's done.  It really made me think about acting without compassion.

I'm telling you this story because I want you to really think about, how many snakes (people) are you hitting and leaving for dead without compassion?

If we judge not ourselves and our own actions, how dare we judge others!
I'm your girl, Lady PJ, and information is power so be informed.  Much love to you all and enjoy your day.

The Government is Shut Down!

Written by Ms. Philessa Jenkins aka Lady PJ

Title: The Government is Shut Down!

I woke up at 4:30 am this morning with a lot on my mind.  I got up to feed my cat and his adopted family showed up.  Before you ask, I feed the whole clan and I suspect the two new kittens will be over in a few weeks.   I thought about this cat (my Tom) that guards, protects, teaches, and loves.  He also disciplines with gentleness and patients.  A cat!  Then I thought, to myself of course, how did we as a society loose that protective quality?  It’s amazing how the simple things in life can bring you back to a memory you didn’t even think important.
Our government is fighting for control and the world around us is changing; not for the better mind you.  In fact, these days and times are worse than they were twenty years ago; there’s no tolerance, no patients, no understanding, no trust, and definitely no love.  How do we get back to that safety zone, that place where we call home?  You know the one where we could go outside our own door and not worry about locking it behind when we went back in, when we use to allow our children to stay outside all day until the sun went down, when gas was 99 cent for regular and it took like ten dollars to fill your tank up, or when kids would fist fight and that was that (the end).
They’re, our Government, is fighting over control and money and we have kids here in America living in poverty, disabled people who can’t get the proper care they need, or people who have spent years in college only to find out that they’re unemployable or “over qualified for the job.” Our entire life is being regulated, controlled, and enforced by the Government; a government that can’t agree on the budget.
I’m from the country, yes I’m a Southern girl, where we have a saying, “teach a man to fish and he will eat every day.”  Well… now that man needs a license but in order to get a license he needs to have ID, so now he has to have money to get an ID or driver’s license; let’s not go into the paperwork it takes to get that driver’s license then he’s got to have the money to get his fishing license.  Wait!  What if that man’s homeless?  Where are they going to send his/her driver’s license to?  It’s the exact same way if you want to eat off the fat of the land and I think that’s crazy. “The land of the free and the home of the brave;” the next time you find yourself singing this, stop for a minute and think about it.  Is it really?
Now they, Our Government, get paid all the while keeping hardworking folk from getting their checks; forcing them into a wait and see game.  Bull!  Who put these people in office? Right… we did!  I think some of them need to go home.
This is really hard for me to believe right now and if it keeps going it could force the value of the dollar to take a turn for the worst.  Everyone who lives in America should be concerned.  Let me just say that I believe that people should have the option of affordable health insurance, I don’t believe that the Government should be shut down while our Representatives do their jobs.
I’m Lady PJ and information is power so be informed.  Much love to you all and have a great day.

The Road Less Travelled

Written by Philessa Jenkins aka Lady PJ

Title: The Road Less Travelled

I’ve learned a very important lesson that I want to share with you; it concerns the road less travelled.  So many people don’t want to face the hard times in life but it’s through the hard times that we learn or should I say develop our strength.  I had to meditate on this aspect of life but my conclusion is that you can’t just walk away from the storm, sometimes you have to go through it or fight through it.

You can go around the storm, under it, or avoid it all together but for how long?  You see, storms tend to come back around because you didn’t handle them appropriately in the beginning.  Your marriage is in shambles because you didn’t start off with a solid foundation (love, patients, and understanding).  You don’t have any friends because you don’t know how to be a friend (you have to learn to give of yourself in order to get something from someone else).   You want to be blessed but you refuse to bless others.  Your life is on a down slope because you can no longer see the rainbow (you have love at home, you have a good family, everyone is healthy, you have a job, and you can afford to feed your family).  A love one died but you can’t get past their death thus you can no longer see your life without them in it (you lose touch with reality).  There are so many circumstances, so many different situations, but you have to find a way to get through these trials and tribulations.  Realize that there’s a lesson to be learned somewhere in there or there’s a triumph on the path ahead of you.  Don’t stop now because the road is too hard; keep going until you find that clear path.

A storm brings with it destruction, pain, loss and who wants to know or feel that?   But!  If you never experience loss or pain how can you know true joy or happiness?  How do you know when you’ve reached true happiness for you?  Pause for a second and let that sink in then read on.

Happiness is different for everybody and you’re no different.  What makes you happy may not affect me at all and the other way around.  In order to actualize happiness you must first see yourself being happy.   Don’t let others dictate your happiness, because it’s your happiness.  Please, remember this.

We learn to appreciate life from the ruins.  Have you ever thought about that?  It’s by finding what you don’t want in your life that you understand and appreciate what you need in your life; or what you can do without.  In a storm you’re forced to see the destruction because it’s right there in front of you.  Most people will shut down and do nothing.  They stay within the confines of the ruins and can no longer see the sunshine.  What a lesson for me, let me tell you.

Maybe you’re going through something right now and if so, just go through it; feel what you have to feel.  Stop worrying about what people will say and do what’s best for you.  Be brave and take the road less travelled; go through the storm and face the ruins.   It’s okay to hurt, to have pain, to cry, and to feel all of these things, but when you’re done pick yourself back up and move on.  That’s the key to survival; don’t stand in the ruins, find a clear path to happiness.  It could be right around the corner or right next door to you.  I’m a venter and I vent.  Honey, I get it all out so I can move on; that works for me but you have to find what works for you.  I’ve been knocked down a lot but I always pull myself back up.  It’s not always easy but I do it because the alternative is not alright with me.

It’s your girl Lady PJ and information is power so be informed.  Remember that strength comes from within and you have it already inside you so be brave.  Much love to you all.

“The Caged Raccoon”

By Philessa H. Jenkins 9/30/2013

When a raccoon has lived in a cage for a while, you can open the door and he may not know that he’s free to go; so is true with people.

When I was a young girl about ten years old I had a pet raccoon and I put him high on top of an old shed where I had to climb a tree to reach him.  It wasn’t a very high tree but it kept him safe and that was worth the climb to me.  At times he would fight me to stay in his cage and I thought that unusual but he would eventually give up the fight; we fought many rounds.   I started noticing that he was becoming less and less motivated as he laid there in that cage waiting to die.  It made me want to set him free because I thought about his existence as being one that would never live as a raccoon should.  He would never again be high in a tree, never have a girlfriend, never know what it is to survive on his own, and never have a family of his own.  I thought this a cruel existence. I realize now, that as we get older, how much we become like that caged raccoon; we sit in that one place waiting to die and never fighting to live.

If you live not with tolerance then peace cannot be within you.

I contribute it all to motivation.  I was sitting here the other day thinking about what motivates me.  It seems like such a simple question but is it really?  Have you thought about what motivates you?  What keeps you going?  Motivation comes from within; it’s an internal wanting that needs to be fulfilled and thus it keeps you going. My motivation is my God because I know that at the end of this journey I will get my just rewards.  I am his child and I want my Father to be proud of me for the good things that I’ve done in this world.  I know that I’m not perfect but he loves me still; no matter how many mistakes I make or how many times he has to pick me up.  I admit, this is what motivates me to keep going even when the times are hard, when failure is all I see, and when I’m all alone (deserted); I know that in the end I’ve done my part to do good in this world.

I realized that I’ve been living like that raccoon in a cage going through each day the same way.  I thought to myself, it’s time for a change.  I really hope you’re ready for it.  Don’t worry some of you are going to really come along with me.  I have to get all of my plans together but it’s time to enjoy life and people.  Welcome to my world and I’m thrilled to be a part of yours.

Dreams are only possible if you have the strength to believe and the will to do the work.

I’m Lady PJ and information is power so be informed.  Have you thought about what motivates you?  If you want to share it, drop a line in the comments.  Much love to you all.

I leave you with these quotes from the Bible and the Quran

For without knowledge, you know not truth.

Quote from the Bible:  Matthews 5:43-45

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”

Quote from the Quran:  (  سورة البقرة  , Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #177)

"It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness- to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the Allah-fearing."

Quote from the Bible:  1 Peter 2:19-23

For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.

Quote from the Quran:  (  سورة البقرة  , Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #195)

"And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good."

I'm your girl, Lady PJ, and as always information is power so be informed.  Let's not keep this hatred going but replace it with love; through knowledge I believe this can be achieved.  Love and peace to you all.

"If we always look to our differences we will never know our similarities or our oneness.  We will keep seeing our enemies and never our brothern." Lady PJ

“Why Women Don’t Report Rape”

September 26, 2013
Written by Philessa H. Jenkins a/k/a Lady PJ

 “Why Women Don’t Report Rape”

On August 26, 2013, District Judge G. Todd Baugh sentenced a 54 year old male and former teacher, Stacey Rambold, to 30 days in Montana State Prison for raping a 14 year old girl, Cherice Moralez, six years ago. Sadly Cherice Moralez committed suicide in 2010 and her mother blames her death on the rape.

Stacey Rambold

Stacey Rambold plead guilty in April to a count of sexual intercourse without consent. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with all but thirty days suspended. There’s been worldwide protest against the sentence and an out pour of calls for the judge to step down.

Cherice Moralez

Judge Baugh suggested that the victim was also to blame by saying that “the victim was older than her chronological age and as much in control of the situation.” The judge later apologized for this statement but Your Honor, can you really apologize for that.

“We live in a victim blaming rape culture where the
Victim is always the one on trial.” Lady PJ

Montana State law required Judge Baugh to impose a mandatory minimum sentence of at least two years as you’re aware now, that was not done.

Stacey Rambold finished his mandatory 30 day sentence in Montana State Prison Thursday. He’s now required to report to the probation office (until August 2028), where he’ll be required to register as a sex offender. His sentence is on appeal and I’m sure everyone concerned will be interested to know what the court decides.

So many people ask the question why woman don’t report being raped, this case is a prime example of why. The legal system needs to get it together.

I’m your girl Lady PJ and information is power so be informed. I would really love to know what your thoughts are about this matter, so don’t forget to leave your comments below. Much love to you all and thank you for reading my post.

I can't believe this here!

Nairobi Kenya Mall attacked

Written By Ms. Philessa Jenkins a/k/a Lady PJ

It’s with great sadness that I write this today.  My heart really goes out to Kenya; to the families first, to the survivors, and to the newly departed.  I was watching the news all day yesterday to keep abreast of the situation; it’s very hard for me to believe that religious indifference or religious intolerance is fought not with knowledge but with a death sentence.  I sat there watching the television hoping that it was a bad dream that I could just wake-up from; thinking to myself that this can’t be happening.

“Two or three Americans and one Briton were among those who attacked a Nairobi shopping mall, Kenya's foreign minister said Monday.”

It’s my belief that you have a right to your religion; to believe what you want or in whom you want to believe in.  What I don’t believe “is that you have the right to infringe upon the religious rights’ of others.”  You have a God given right to choose what you believe in; I just say, “choose wisely.”  The day will come when each man/woman will be judged in accordance to his own works.

“The FBI and U.S. intelligence officials are "aggressively" investigating whether or not Americans were among the militants who attacked the mall, a federal law enforcement source told Fox News.” #Fox News

Personally, with people (who like to kill innocent people) like this, I like to think what’s behind the desire to spill innocent blood.  I don’t feel that it’s completely religious; in fact, I think it’s a cowardly act.  Maybe you feel different from me but it’s my opinion.  Because if the incidence at Kenya Mall is a show of power then that purpose has already been defeated; it’s the work of cowards that go after the weak and the unarmed not the strong.  The only real reason I can think of for the militants’ to storm the Nairobi Mall was to “kill.”  It doesn’t make you strong to kill the weak and unarmed, it makes you murders.  You’ve accomplished nothing more than to create an atmosphere of fear.  The question now is “where will this atmosphere of fear take you?”

I’m praying for a resolution in which no more lives are lost.  It’s my hope that in the future we can learn to accept our differences, to be tolerant of our religious beliefs, and to live our lives together in peace and harmony in spite of our differences or our beliefs.      I just think that if you have something important to say about your religion or your beliefs you can find better ways to say it other than resorting to such inhuman practices.

As always it’s your girl, Lady PJ, and information is power, so be informed.  This blog is my opinion and based on my beliefs.  If you have any comments I would love to hear from you.  Much love to you all.

If you would like to  know more about the incidence in Kenya please go to the link below at Fox news.

School Fighting: we need a viable solution now

September 22, 2013

I’m putting the links below so you can read what incidence I’m referring to and I want to thank Ms. Sally Ericson for putting this information in her blog.  Here is the first link from Ms. Ericson’s blog, please go and read it because it’s a big problem now:  http://blog.al.com/live/2013/09/fights_facebook_threats_lead_t.html.

When I was a little girl, I fought to settle disputes or to defend my friends and I didn’t care who I fought but it was always with my fist and never with a weapon.  It wasn’t right and I knew it but after I fought that person everything went back to normal.  Young adults are doing the same thing but not to settle a dispute, no to become famous on Facebook or YouTube.

These fights may be a small problem right now but they’re leading to a huge problem for schools if they can’t find a viable solution, because negative attention is better than no attention at all.  It’s my opinion that the Schools are not handling this problem appropriately.  It doesn’t make since to me to put these young adults in jail; how’s that going to fix the problem?  It’s a band aide solution because we don’t know what’s causing the bleeding.

The Schools and the Police Department have just made these young adults criminals and they have nothing else to loose.  What the schools are doing is not fixing the problem but making the situation worst because now these young adults have criminal records; when what they need is counseling (give them someone to talk to about their anger), discipline (put them in sports to help with the aggression), and positive feedback (help to build their self-confidence and self-esteem).  Some of these kids just need to know that somebody believes in them.  Instead of treating them like criminals and sticking a band aide on the problem; let’s get to the root of things and find out why this problem is happening in our schools.
Here’s another link from Ms. Sally Ericson http://blog.al.com/live/2013/09/officers_patrol_williamson_the.html and I found these by doing a simple search on www.break.com and Youtube.com:
The sad thing is, I can go on and on with these links.  Please America, wake up we need to fix this problem now before more lives are lost or ruined.

I’m Lady PJ and information is power.  This blog is my opinion and I would love to know what you think about it and if you have a viable solution for these schools please leave a comment.  Much love to you all and have a blessed day.

Officer related shooting of 24 year old male in North Carolina

9/19/2013

Any of you heard about the incident that happened on Saturday 9/14/2013 in Charlotte, North Carolina where the police officer Randall Kerrick shot an unarmed 24 year old black male, Jonathan A. Ferrell, ten times? Apparently, Jonathan Ferrell had just wrecked his car and needed some help so he knocked on a nearby strangers’ door.  A white female answered the door and immediately assumed that Mr. Ferrell was breaking into her house; after he knocked.  I’m sorry, “banged on the door.”  She then called 911 and reported a break in at her house.

The Charlotte Police Department went ahead and charged the officer with voluntary manslaughter and rightfully so.  Listen Mr. Ferrell was unarmed, no gun, no knife, no nothing but shot ten times.  I think the officer should do the right thing; plead guilty, go to jail, thus giving the family closure so they can start to heal. You know you were wrong, Officer Randall Kerrick, now just do the honorable thing.

Here’s where you’re probably going to disagree with me, “it’s my belief that the 911 caller should be charged with making a false report because she started this whole incident.  Have any of you heard her 911 call?  I heard it and so should you.  You would think that someone is breaking into her house to do her bodily harm.  She opened the door to him but he didn’t push his way in.  Officer Kerrick may have shot the gun but the 911 caller put Mr. Ferrell in the line of fire.

911 call released by CBS news: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50155292n

The police department should look at the whole picture then they would see that this incident would never have happened if not for that 911 call.  All she had to do was tell the young man that she was not going to help him and for him to leave her property, then call 911 and report a stranger in her neighborhood.  Dispatch would then send an officer out looking for a young man that might be lost or needing some help but not looking for a burglar.  Because when you think burglar what’s the first thing that comes to mind? ARMED AND DANGEROUS; that’s where I would of went.

This man didn’t push his way into the house when she opened the door, he didn’t try to break the door down, and he didn’t break a window nor did he threaten bodily harm.  He was in need of help and he went to the door of someone that he thought would help him.

I'm hoping that justice will be done for Mr. Ferrell and I pray that all who contributed to this incident get their just reward.

I’m Lady PJ and information is power so be informed.  This blog post is mostly my opinion and I stick by it but I would love to know what you think.  Please leave a comment if you have something to say if not thank you for reading the post.  Much love to you all.

Yet another shooting in our own backyard!

Tuesday, September 17, 2013

On September 16, 2013 America experienced yet another attack by an American citizen and Navy Veteran, 34 Year old Aaron Alexis.  President Obama ordered all flags, be flown half-staff, until Friday in light of Monday’s shooting.  It happened at the Naval Base San Diego in Washington DC and when the reign of terror was over twelve laid dead and eight others injured.

Aaron Alexis was a Navy Reserve Veteran who served his country from 2007 to 2011 and he was presently working as a civilian contractor, The Experts (a Defense Department Subcontractor).

“To find truth you must search within the ruins.”

I’ve been watching the news and I was thinking, “Another crazy person has decided to play God by taking the lives of innocent people.”  It’s easy to call Aaron Alexis crazy because no sane person would do this.  The question we should all be asking ourselves is “why?” We need to find out the reason for these types of attacks on our country.  It’s time to dig further to find the truth behind the ruins.

Is it because our mentally unstable people are no longer getting the help they need from the States’ they live in?  Are we closing our eyes and hoping for the best from our mentally ill children that grow up to be mentally unstable adults?  We need a viable solution to this ever growing problem within our society.  If not today, trust me when I say, “There will be a day when we’re forced to deal with this problem because I don’t believe it will just go away on its own.”

I’m Lady PJ and information is power so be informed.  I would love to know what you think about the problem of mental illness in our society and what you think we can and should do to solve it.

Oprah Winfrey's reputation being attacked by Rae Dawn Chong

“You ain’t nothing but a big old heifer!”
From “The Color Purple”

Listen cause someone is sitting on crazy; Rae Dawn Chong!  What’s wrong with her, talking about Oprah Winfrey in an interview on “Matty P’s Radio Happy Hour” and trying to ruin Oprah’s reputation.  Shame on you for that!  You're probably like who is Rae Dawn Chong?  You remember the one that Ms. Sofia hit, and knocked out, for messing with Harpo in “The Color Purple.”  That’s just the best way I can explain it to you.  You do remember “The Color Purple?”
Anyway, these two women have not worked together since 1985 while starring together in the movie “The Color Purple.”  Well, now this chick wants to step out here after all these years (27 yrs. of them and some) hating on Miss Oprah Winfrey and you won't believe what she said.  Let me just add this little bit of information, she’s 52 years old and half black; so you know she knows better than this here.

“The thing that’s really great about Oprah that you can't take away from her is that she’s a great brown-noser.” Rae Dawn Chong.

The thing that we know about Oprah Winfrey Ms. Rae Dawn Chong, whether you like her or not, is that she’s a go getter.  Ms. Winfrey is a rainmaker.  Let me stand up and say this, with my hand on my hip, shaking my head, and saying to you Rae Dawn Chong, “You just jealous.” Wait a minute, this heifer here!  This here is the quote that gets me:

“If you looked at the way she looks, she looks like if it was 60 years ago she would've been a housekeeper, luckily.  She would’ve not been a house nigger; she would've been a field nigger… So I give her props.” Rae Dawn Chong.

She even tried to put a twist on it later on in the interview and said how much respect she has for Oprah, and I give her props for all that she’s done.  Yeah, let me stab you with this knife right here and I’ll kiss you afterwards.  I especially enjoyed her saying how much she appreciates Oprah Winfrey for all she’s accomplished.  Who’s brown nosing now?

Girlfriend it happened almost 30 years ago just let it go.  Much love to you all and as always I’m Lady PJ saying information is power so be informed.

No Justice No Peace for Trayvon Martin

I'm just shaking my head.

No Justice No Peace for Trayvon Martin

I would love to know what you think about the “Trayvon Martin case” and the ruling.  I have to admit that I expected that ruling (Not Guilty) after hearing that the prosecutor’s case was really lacking in evidence to support second degree murder.  It never amazes me when you have cases like this for the ruling to be so completely outrageous.
George Zimmerman gets away with murdering an innocent defenseless child because he claimed self-defense when in fact he had the weapon.  How can you claim self-defense when you incited the whole event?  If George Zimmerman had stopped following that kid when he was told, to not follow him, Trayvon Martin would still be alive today.

I just want to know this one little thing, have we now set precedence for murder by claiming self-defense?  Think about that for a minute as you walk down the street with your enemies following you around.  I think this ruling was a complete mistake and it’s going to really affect a lot of cases in the future.
Please leave your comments and let me know what you think.  Much love to you all and as always I'm Lady PJ.

“We must hold in our minds these utterly contradictory thoughts:
not one of us matters at all; each of us is infinitely precious.”
–Jane Emily Bowers

 One Day At A Time

Everybody wants to be rich but not everybody is willing to work for it. Isn’t that the truth with everything these days? Nobody wants to put in the effort any more instead they want immediate gratification. People always thinking that if they had money they’d be instantly happy; as if money was the root of all their problems. How about asking all those good folks that won the lottery how happy they are right now, now that they have money? Ask them how their lives have changed? See when you have money you have to work real hard to keep it and even harder to not spend it on all that useless stuff, then you have to protect it from all those crazy people that want to take it from you.
True happiness should come from within self, by having and keeping perfect peace. Because happiness is a state-of-being you have total control and power over it; you can decide, your choice, to just be happy. It’s harder said than done because so many times we just give our peace away; in road rage, fight over a man or woman, complaining about what someone isn’t doing for you, and staying in a relationship that isn’t going anywhere. We let people control and take us over until we no longer recognize ourselves. If you want to obtain happiness then you need to take things one day at a time and find out what’s making you so unhappy, decide to change it, then just become happy.
Right now you’re probably saying, “Can I honestly do this and is it that simple?” What’s your alternative? You want to keep giving your power away every day, more and more? Tomorrow when you wake up and get out your bed before you even put on your clothes put on a smile and tell yourself that, “today I’m going to be happy.” You might have to remind yourself of this throughout the day but that’s alright you just keep confirming until you believe.

Lady PJ's Bucket list

Lady PJ’s bucket list.

I’m adding five more things to my bucket list some for the more tamed personalities and a few for the thrill seekers.  Personally I want to go scuba diving with dolphins.

· Scuba diving
· Joining a book club
· Repelling from a mountain
· Scrapbooking
· Alligator hunting

For the scuba diving I think you have to take a class first so make sure you call ahead and get as much information as you can about this thrilling task.
Joining a book club can be as simple as putting a post on your facebook asking if there are any book club's in your area, or just doing a search online.
Repelling from a mountain is nothing that you should take lightly because you have to be physically fit to climb the mountain first, unless you're going to get someone to drop you off at the top.  You don't want to just jump into this task.  You definitely want to prepare yourself fully before even thinking about climbing a mountain.
Scraping booking is so easy and you can do it with your children or just as gifts for your family.  All of your supplies can be obtained from Wal-mart, Hobby Lobby, or Michaels.
It takes a special type of person to hunt alligators.  You must have no fear, be able to completely concentrate on the task at hand, and be willing to kill or be killed because you're taking an animals life.
Please let me know what you think of these task and if you've ever done any of them.

I’m Lady PJ and much love to you all; don't forget to live life to the fullest.

I SEE YOU; poetry by Philessa Jenkins

Friday, June 28, 2013

 I SEE YOU

The eyes don’t lie
It’s so much truth in those big rounds
Like this looking glass I’ve found
I see you

We dance around so freely
Like kids on the play ground
Tag you’re it
You see me?

I see you watching me
With that shy innocence you possess
Longing to be freed
I’m just that on-the-spot test I know you’ll need
And you’ll long to confess it all to me

I’ll be your sunlight
If you’ll be my rainbow
We’ll brighten this world
Together from the depths of our soul

Love will enter our hearts
And we’ll watch as it grows
Questioning every step
Even though we know

Why hide patiently waiting
With your heart constantly aching
I know what you go through
You’re looking at me
I’m looking at you too

What God has put together
No man can put asunder
We’ll be as strong as that lightning bolt
And as loud as that thunder
I see you

My day at Marion Junction Alabama.

I went to Marion Junction Alabama over the weekend; which is in the Dallas County jurisdiction in the Selma metro area.  My family always refers to it as going up country because the area is mostly woods and it’s located in central Alabama.  It’s also the place where my Grandmother and Grandfather are buried.  There was this need in me to see my Grandmother and when I went to visit her grave I felt peace.  I can’t describe this weight I felt just being there at her grave gave me this release.
We stayed the night with my Great Aunt, who is at the early stages of Alzheimer’s.  I had the chance to sit outside on the front porch with her where we felt the cool breeze of the wind on our faces, looked at the different species of birds (blue birds, mockingbirds, sora’s, and woodpeckers) flying back and forth, and took in all the greenery around us.  It was so immensely relaxing; from the cows in the field wagging their tails, to the limbs on the trees swaying back and forth with the wind, and the sounds of all the birds talking to each other.
I asked her, “About the area and were there a lot of homes being built there?”  She informed me of something that I found shocking.  She said, “Most people around here still have outhouses but they put them behind the house so nobody can see them.”  If you don’t know what an outhouse is, it’s an outside toilet but with no running water.  Her words took me back to when I was a little girl; I can remember the outhouse that stood in our backyard.  We would often use it because we didn’t want to run all the way back into the house to use the toilet.  One day we went to use it and found a snake inside; I can’t remember what type of snake but my Mom saw it and well that was the end of the outhouse.   I at the time thought that it was pretty cool that the snake was in that predicament; I was young.  It’s hard to believe that it’s 2013 and people still don’t have toilets in their homes or running water.  I just felt so sad that people have no choice but to live this way because they can’t afford to do better.  It was my reality check.
My family (my Auntie’s two daughters) treated us like royalty with that old southern hospitality; ensuring that we were comfortable and well fed.  I can’t help but to think that my Great Aunt and I are very much alike in that we both like quiet, peace, and serenity; plus we will fight anyone who tries to take that away.  We both sat on that porch enjoying those simple things in life that you don’t buy from a store.  You just take it all in from day to day and pray to God that it never changes or fades away, that very rare but natural beauty.

Sorry I have no pictures.  I brought my camera but forgot my film.  Yeah, I know!  This is your girl Lady PJ saying, “Live life to the fullest and enjoy those little things in life for a change.”

A day in the life of PJ

I so enjoyed shooting these pictures; as I hope you will
likewise enjoy viewing them.

I AM PERFECT

For today I’m giving you an assignment.  Really, you say?  Look it’s such a simple assignment you could do it in your sleep; your dreams of course.  Here we go and I hope you’re ready to change your life.
Walk over to a mirror, take a good look at yourself and say these words, “I am perfect.” I know.  You’re saying that there are no perfect beings and you are correct; but is not perfection in the eyes of the beholder?  If I look at something and I say, “This is perfect then it's perfect but only perfect to me and isn't that what really matters?”
Your assignment for today is to see yourself in a new way.  Listen don’t let any doubt stand in your way.  If doubt creeps into your mind, you just turn into a heavyweight boxer and knock it out the way.  Because today I am perfect just the way I am.
I’m doing this assignment with you of course but I’m hoping that you won’t just do it for today.  If a moment arises in your life where you feel down about you, then repeat this assignment and don’t forget what to do when doubt comes creeping in.

I’m your girl Lady pj saying, “Life is a gift so receive it with joy but most importantly learn to appreciate it.”

Business In Review: The Billiard Club in Mobile Alabama

I went to The Billiard Club off Government Ave, Mobile Alabama and discovered that you can now play pool all week and cheap; Friday through Saturday it's a $4 cover charge and playing pool is free but the rest of the week it's just $2.  Just don't forget to bring money for drinks.  You know you got to get your drink on!  They're open at 5pm and after that small fee you can play as long as you want.  So if you want a girl's night out, place to go, or guy's then you should really go and check them out.  Guy's if you want a really cheap date this is the place.  LOL!

My day at Wood Park 6/15/13

Check out my day at Wood Park; Mobile Parks & Recreation Department.  Wood Park is off of DIP (Dauphin Island Parkway) in Mobile, Alabama.  It's actually a very nice place to go fishing (but you must have a saltwater fishing license first) or just hang out by the water with the kids.  I hung out with my niece, Amber.  We had a pretty good day today.
This is your girl Lady PJ saying, "Go outside and explore your world or just your backyard you'll never know what you might find."
