Encouraging words of wisdom

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres...

And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love.

But the greatest of these is love.”

My Day At The Beach

I went to the beach, in Gulf Shores Alabama, on Wednesday the fifth of June and the water was ferocious.   I was with my family (My Mom, my daughter, my two nieces, and my nephew) and we were all excited to go swimming in the beach; of course I thought we were going to Orange Beach where the water was much clearer but no, Gulf Shores.  Orange Beach has prettier waters.
So we arrive there by car with my Mom driving and upon arrival we notice the red flags flying; which means high hazards as in the water conditions may be rough.  I thought okay we're just going to chill here by the beach for the day; I’m alright with that so I start walking on this white sand that’s not too far from the water.  It wasn't pretty because about half way there I decided that we didn't really need to be right by the water.  It only took a few steps in that sand to make that decision final; quick, fast, and in a hurry.   Besides, right next to the water was this long line of seaweed (piles of it) that had washed up and who wants to look at that all day?  Everybody agreed with me.  It didn't really take a whole lot of convincing on my part; I wonder why?  LOL!
We're not there for like five minutes and this strong wind hits me across the face, and blew my umbrella back before I could get it into the ground good.  One time the wind blew so hard it blew the umbrella out my Mom’s hands and hit my niece in the face before settling about a few feet from us.  I then put my bright green chair down but upon setting it up I decided to give it to my Mom; because it’s the most comfortable chair I own.  Always have to look out for Mom.   My other chair wasn't too bad, it was bright red and I love bright colors; they put me in a really good mood.  I settled down into my chair with a nice cold refreshing beer in hand (that my niece so nicely thought to bring for me), and I start reading in my book.  Bit by bit I’m relaxing and everyone else is just taking in the view; it was a divine feeling of peace.
My niece on the other hand decided to sunbathe, my Mom is sitting down chilling, the kids of course are eating, and I’m trying to read this huge book on marketing.  Yeah, that lasted for all of twenty minutes then the beach water started calling my name; “Philessa.”  I think it even whistled a little.  At this time it’s about 2 p.m. and even with the high winds it’s still hot outside; so we all start looking for the sunscreen.  I of course forgot to put it on my face and before you ask, yes I got sunburned a little.
We all get up and head for the waters and let me just say that the water was ferocious.  When I first walked in the water it was a bit cool but I just kept walking until I was hit in the chest by a huge wave.  It hurt but I just laughed it off.  Then I’m immediately hit by another huge wave but this time the water just bum rushed me and completely consumed me; did I mention that the undercurrents started pulling me back out towards the sea?  In that moment I realized why so many people have drowned here.  Me not wanting to be one of them I swim towards the shore into the shallow part and pull myself up.  My nephew is right in front of me so I decide to watch him very closely; not only am I watching him but I’m also watching for sharks.
I wish I had brought a surfboard because that was the perfect time to learn to surf.  Really I just want to say I surfed and check it off my bucket list.
